Affordable Etched Glass Window Treatment for the Front Door

How do I cover up the window on my front door without blocking all the light?

You need an affordable etched glass window treatment for the front door! Do you have a front door with a window that you want to cover for Privacy but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg or use fabric?

We stumbled across this great product called Artscape on Amazon, and thought we’d give it a try on our front door window.

Here is the Artscape product we used, from Amazon

It was fairly easy DIY!

A little math, a bit of measuring, a cutting mat, and a sharp x-acto knife and you are good to go. If you don’t have a cutting-mat on hand you can probably cut your sections (if you are doing it the way I did) on a couple layers of cardboard.

Applying the film to the window took a couple tries to get perfect, but because its a removable peel and stick product, if you don’t get it right the first time, just peel it off and start again.

So, there you have it!

Not only do I love that this product is easy to adhere. The best thing is it offers the privacy we needed while still allowing natural daylight. 🙂

This is the final look! Looks just like etched glass.

DIY Tips for working with Artscape window film:

Etched Glass Window Film Artscape

1) Make sure your windows are super clean before you but the film on. Nothing more frustrating than having to peel it off once you’ve got it on perfectly, just to clean off the little fingerprints that you missed.

2) Wet the window with soap and water before putting on the film, this will make it easy to slide the film into the right position.

3) You will have some bubbles in the film after you apply it, and get it in the right spot. I used a rubber spatula to work the bubbles out by pushing them to the edge of the film. A credit card works too, just make sure it has a nice flat edge so you don’t scratch the film.
